The Art of Healing in a Transitory Context

A chapter within Groupwork with Refugees and Survivors of Human Rights Abuses: The Power of Togetherness, an internationally authored volume edited by Jude Boyles. The chapter explores how creative and activity-based groupwork supports the mental and physical well-being of people seeking asylum. It highlights the role of art and group activities in identifying individuals in need of psychological treatment, while enabling broader rehabilitation and support for a highly mobile and vulnerable population.

The chapter was written by Malisa Zymberi and draws on her daily work as a psychologist in an asylum seekers' camp. It was completed in collaboration with three colleagues from the project, who also helped develop and edit the final text.
